He is such a funny kid. I think I have mentioned that, oh say, a buzzillion times before and the day of my return he was true to form.
I wanted some alone time with Aiden when I got home to ask how he was doing, because to be honest, Ben's adoption has actually been much harder on him than it has been on Ben. Going from being a very independent only-child to having a nine-year old brother attached to your hip is not an easy transition. So we had a little talk:
Me: How was your week alone with Pop and your brother?
Aiden: It was alright.
Me: Just alright? How did you and Ben get along?
Aiden: Just alright..... he is always there, every time I turn around.
Me: Hopefully things will get better after he has been here longer and adjusts more.
Aiden: I really think adoption is better when you start from scratch.
Me: What do you mean?
Aiden: Well if you get a baby then you can teach it not to follow you around but if they already know how to walk you really can't keep them away...so I think it must be easier if you start from scratch. Don't cha think?
Me: Ahhh Aiden!
What could I do but laugh?

Terrible, No Good, Very Bad.......
BLOGGER! I have been out for a while huh! Yikes, the past three weeks have been a bluuuuuurrr! We did 2 weeks in 1 for school, then we went to Midland to visit family and friends and have an early Thanksgiving. I saw friends I hadn't seen in 7,8, and 9 years. It was great. Then we came back and had a week of festivities with family celebrating not only Thanksgiving but also Jeff's mom's, brother's, and step-son's birthdays! And then to top it allllllllllllllllll off, Jeff and I left last Saturday for a cruise to celebrate his 40th birthday! It was sooooo fun. We went with Carla and Darren, our friends, neighbors and cruise partners! I'm gonna blog lots of pictures but thought I ought to check back in quickly first! Missed all of you and can't wait to get updates from all of your blogs!

OK Donkey..................
Me: Ben, please bring me your math assignment.
Ben: OK, Donkey
Me: Ben, please go take your bath now.
Ben: OK, Donkey
Me: Ben, pleeeease STOP kicking your brother!
Ben: OK..........(long pause)...................Donkey
I'm pretty sure that he is meaning "Okie Dokie" but the latter use of the term makes me wonder if he's just calling me a donkey..............(long pause).................. no that can't be it.

Doing the dishes is fun.......................
I gotta say, my kids make the most out of their chores. I asked them to do the dishes. I explained that some of them would have to be hand washed since they were pans too big for the dishwasher. Aiden looked at me like I was crazy, Ben has only known of dishwashers for 2 months now so it was an ordinary task for him. Anyway, after a while I heard a lot of laughing coming from the kitchen and went to investigate. I assumed that they were not doing what I had asked because there is no way that you can have fun doing the dishes. They proved me wrong!

My 6, no wait, 7 things.........................
So I mentioned being tagged a while back and I took my sweet time getting around to coming up with 6 interesting facts about myself. While I was at it I thought of a 7th. I don't know how interesting they actually are but I hope they help you all know me a bit better. Here goes:
1. My all time favorite band is The Beatles. I have loved them since high school. Some of my favorite songs are Revolution, Get Back, and While My Guitar Gently Weeps but there are really too many to name them all. George Harrison is my favorite Beatle. Fortunately my love for them has been passed on to Aiden and he and I are working on Ben.
2. I am addicted to the game RockBand. I'm pretty good on the drums. The boys and I play during the day sometimes (call it part of our music lessons for home school). Jeff, Carla, and Darren and I do "World Tours" almost every Friday night. My favorite song to play on RockBand is Give Me Shelter by The Stones. Great, great song!
3. I am deathly afraid of having a daughter. Hence the three boys! I like the idea of having a baby girl and have thought about adopting again. The only problem with baby girls is that if you feed them, they GROW! The thought of being responsible for a teenage girl makes me panicky! I know I am gonna get crap for this but it is true.
4. I LOVE to watch T.V. I know...............T.V. rots your brain, yada, yada.................yeah, yeah! Heard it. Don't care. I've always liked to watch T.V. I am an only child it was how I entertained myself when I was younger. I don't know how I lived without my Tivo before it was invented. By the way, I read about 2 hours everyday, not including home school stuff so my brain is growing plenty of new brain cells for those of you concerned for my mental health!
5. I have been fortunate enough to visit 9 different countries. Austria, England, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Mexico, Niger, Scotland, and Ukraine. I have also been to the Cayman Islands but I'm not sure if that counts as a country. (I know its a British territory......I will have to google that here in a minute.) Next year I hope to get to visit my 10th country, Russia, if I can work out all the kinks. And by kinks I mean a baby-sitter (wink-wink, Mom and Dad!!).
6. I LOVE football. LOVE IT! This is my first year in the past 6 not to play Fantasy Football. I was raised by a football watchin' Momma and Daddy. I am and always will be (even when they suck) a Dallas Cowboy and University of Texas fan. I love it so much that one year one of my birthday gifts was Directv NFL Sunday Ticket. Jeff was elated!!
7. I am teaching myself Russian. I have been working on it since last year and it is slow going but I'm getting there. I know some from my 2 trips to Ukraine and I can read Russian. I just don't always know what I am reading, and that can be a bit dangerous!
I am not tagging anyone but I have enjoyed reading everyone elses facts about themselves!
