Sometimes I wonder.....

A few things happened this past week that made me wonder............ Wonder with me:

Everyday we pick up a little boy named Samuel before school. We did this last year and we have done it everyday of this school year. Today we were on our way to pick this little boy up and Ben asks me "Does Samuel go to our school?".... Huh?!?...... Please keep in mind that Ben and Samuel have walked into school everyday together. They sometimes walk out together too. So.... Huh?!?
Here is how the rest of that conversation went:

Me: "Did you really just ask me that?"
Ben: "OH No! Sorry I mean Jack. Does Jack go to our school?"
Me: "Jack....who we are on our way to pick up right now..... for school.......your
Reading Buddy.....at school.......That Jack?"
Ben: "Yes, that Jack."
Me: Giant super-sized sigh and an equally large eye roll.

Sometimes I wonder.........

This past weekend Ben and Aiden and Aiden's long time best friend Ethan went outside to play in the rain. Ethan's dad Tim and I were talking inside the house and when we went to look for the boys they were nowhere to be found. We yell their names and they emerge from under a neighbors truck. Brilliant, right?....Playing under cars.....
Well Ben says "Mom, something hot hurt my back under that truck." And lifts his shirt to show me a blister about 3 inches long and 1 inch wide. Ouch. Turns out it's a second degree burn but we didn't know it at the time. Yikes...but not the point.
Tim and I begin to chastise the boys for climbing under the truck, telling them they are lucky they weren't hurt much worse than Ben was. Ethan, who I have known most of his life and love with all of my heart, looks at Tim in total seriousness and says "Don't worry, the only thing on the truck that could have run over us was the wheels."
Thank you Captain Obvious, for making our point.

Sometimes I wonder...........

Look past the sad in this story to see the idiocy.

One of Jeff's long time friends and mentors lost his long battle with ALS last week. He was a wonderful man.
A wonderful man married to what is arguably the dumbest person on the planet. Anyone reading this who knows this woman: a) knows exactly what I mean by "the dumbest person on the planet" and b) should know not to point her to this blog.

This woman asked some of her husband's best friends to help her with the end of the memorial service she was having. She said she would like to load her husbands ashes into shotgun shells and "...shoot him off in the parking lot of the church."......................Oh my word!

Sometimes I wonder................

Oooops.......

Is it bad that I ran and grabbed the camera before stopping him from drawing all over himself with permanent marker? I have no idea where he got the marker from. I left him alone for 2 seconds to go get the duster and came back to that. Awesome.

What we have been up to.....

You can read about what we have been up to most recently here on Gina's blog. We spent the past weekend in Missouri visiting with the family who led us to Ben.

We also celebrated Ben's 1 Year Home Anniversary this past Monday. Time has totally flown by and it seems like he has always been with us. He's such a strange kid, which makes for a great fit!

We also celebrated an unooficial birthday for Cooper because his birth certificate says he turned 3 on August 15th. We know there is no way that he is 3 and more than likely that date is just something that was given to complete his profile. An official date of birth will come when the adoption process is complete. Here are some pics from Coop's bday party in Midland:

Lots of stuff always going on but Coop is not a fan of my blog because I won't let him slam on the keys of my computer. He is busy and into everything and my blogging is suffering. If I wasn't so fond of nap time myself I might get it done then. But I really really love nap time! Maybe I can trick Coop into thinking that I am playing Elmo's Restaurant everyday (like I am doing right now, while actually I keep sneaking over to the computer to type). Probably not..... he's smarter than me, for sure.
