Finally............

Jeff has been back a week and we have gone non-stop! I haven't had a second to post. Jeff is finally back on U.S. time and his days are falling back into place nicely. I will share some of his pictures with you and try to explain what is going on as best as I can. If you are at all interested in a more in depth look at his trip you can read the Mehanna Blog. Our friend Mark Kent who was on the trip with Jeff did a great job giving great detail about each day. Here is that link again: http://www.mehannaroad.squarespace.com/ .

OK, here are the pics from Jeff's trip that I wanted to share:

This is our Worship Minister, Mark Garner; far left. The King of Mehanna; center. And Jeff, far right.

This is Jeff carrying the cross that they used in the crucifixion scene of the drama. They had to lug this thing around everyday, strapping it to the top of their van to get it across the Sahara Desert.

This is a village on the Mehanna Road.

This is a video of a little girl singing a song about Jesus. I don't have it translated so I can't tell you exactly what she is saying but the group asked every group of children to sing a song.
This girl was the only one who knew any song. The group was saddened that the kids didn't have songs in their hearts so they taught them some! Enjoy the sweet video.
I will share more pictures later. Aiden has a new Comic Book writing program that he is bugging me to play. Come back for more pictures later this week!

The Zoo

This weekend our friend Morgan came in to visit. She and I decided to take Aiden to the zoo. It ended up being a beautiful day, right around 65 degrees and sunny. Here is what we saw:

The Fort Worth Zoo is so fantastic. There were many more shots than this but these were the best ones. We have the best zoo. It is so clean and interesting. Check out this shot of Aiden when he was in the observation bubble watching the otters:

I can't wait to bring our new boys to the zoo to see the beautiful animals and the gorgeous plants and flowers. I hope they love it as much as we do!! Soon, very soon we will all share this experience!

Jeff

I am getting daily text messages from Jeff. Some days I get more than one in a day so that is good but now that they are out in the villages that will slow down. They are doing well and gearing up for the harder part of their journey; witnessing to the Songhai people. The groups will be acting out stories from the Bible............ from creation to the cross. I giggled at the idea because Jeff is not someone I would think of as an "actor" but this is an exciting way to reach the Songhai because so many of them do not read and passing out written stories is pointless. Since our music minister, his wife, and other very talented "thespians" (as Tim Feldman calls himself) from our church are also a part of the group, I am sure the drama's will be very moving. The translator, either Hama or Lawally will be telling the stories as our team acts them out.
The team is able to post on the Mehanna Road blog so check it out to see what The Seven have to say.

Two Things.......................

First, Jeff is in Niger. They made it safe and sound minus two of their bags. Tim Feldman and Mark Kent's bags did not make it but they will have them on Sunday. They are sleeping off some of the jet lag before getting down to business tomorrow morning bright and early. Check the clock under the flag of Niger over on the right side of the blog to keep up with what time it is for Jeff and his crew.

Second.....................we got a court date for our adoption!!!!! Whoo Hoooooo! It is May 7th. If we make it thru court that day, we will get to travel six week later. So that means that we are shooting for the end of June. Score!!!!

Thanks for your prayers for Jeff, the Niger team and the adoption. They are working! We can feel them.

Mehanna Road Blog

Here is the blog for the Mehanna Road. It was set up by our church and has the posts from the other teams that have gone over the past year and a half. There won't be an update from Jeff's team until they are home because they won't be able to publish from Niger. I will put the link in My Favorite Blogs list so check back there for updates.

On His Way.............

Jeff is on his way to Niger this morning. We packed three bags full of stuff; food, gifts, books, dvds, all sorts of things for the Wombles. Jeff has packed a lot less this time around. We were laughing about all the stuff you take on a mission trip and never use. It is all about being prepared! We just tend to be over-prepared.
So if we could have your prayers for the whole teams safety we would greatly appreciate it It will be very very very hot. Like 130's probably. Pray for God's protection from the elements. Thank you so much!
